Summary/Abstract: In this essay are treated two latest novels of James Joyce, focusing on the novel“Ulysses”, which is seen as a novel without previous literary models. Speaking about silence, language, antinarrative discourse, polyphonic writing, historical and mythical references, the author of this essay reflects on the importance of the Joycean project as an enormous work of modernist literature.
