Summary/Abstract: Municipalities are legal entities providing public services established to meet the needs of the people living within their borders. Today, municipalities have to adapt to change in order to increase the satisfaction of residents in infrastructure, social services, environmental policies and other types of services. This change has revealed the necessity to try different methods not only in service types but also in solving legal problems. As a matter of fact, municipal activities should be carried out in accordance with the principles of social control, participation and transparency. In this context, legal arrangements should be made in order to use alternative legal solutions to settle disputes between the residents and the municipality. Therefore, in this study, certain types of disputes arising during municipal activities will be reviewed. At the same time, the types of lawsuits and disputes to which municipalities are frequently parties to administrative and judicial judiciary are examined. Also, whether these disputes can be solved by mediation method, which is one of the alternative solutions and its results will be examined.
