Summary/Abstract: In 2006 and 2018, research was conducted on physical and chemical properties of soil humus horizons in the Pole Mokotowskie Park in Warsaw, Poland. As evidenced by laboratory testing on collected samples, soil richness in nutrients and optimal water retention conditions for plants have been maintained. However, the structure and composition of the soil have deteriorated, as a result of which soil water and air conditions are disturbed. The reason for this is probably intensified trampling and organizing mass events in the park. Due to the expected further increase in anthropopressure in the Pole Mokotowskie Park and the resulting adverse transformation in the structure of surface deposits, the ecological function of soils is expected to be depreciating.
