Summary/Abstract: The year 1881, the year in which Romania was proclaimed Kingdom, represents one of the major landmarks in the process of development and modernization of the Romanian state. This historic moment was preceded by two major events: the union of Moldavia with Wallachia on 5-24 January 1859 and the declaration of state independence from 9-10 May 1877. The transformation of Romania into a kingdom was, in fact, one of the greatest ‘48 desire. In our study we will consider the integral analysis of Vasile Boerescu and Carol I's speeches at the proclamation of the kingdom, together with a small comparative study of the evolution of their discourses over time at key moments in the history of the Romanian state.
