Summary/Abstract: This study is one of a series of written articles that have Imre Dániel, the librarian of the Catholic Bishop Ignác Batthyány (1780–1798), as main character. The connection between the two XVIIIth century personalities was thoroughly analysed based on archival sources found at archives and libraries from Alba Iulia, Cluj-Napoca, Gherla or Vienna, following the research of holdings from the Apostolica Vaticana Library. This time we deal with an interesting snapshot of everyday history from the end of the XVIIIth century, meaning the trip to Italy, the round-trip to and from Rome. This wandering was requested by the Transylvanian dignitary to obtain from the archives and libraries from the Peninsula the necessary information for his scientific writings; this took place between December 1783 and December 1785. The journal and letters of the canon-librarian I. Dániel reveal us the round trip that falls within the route used by the travellers of time to get to the Italian Peninsula. Although the precise route of Petru Maior’s trip to the Alma Mater of the Catholic education was not kept, is likely that this had been the same considering that both P. Maior and I. Dániel started their journey from Vienna, the capital of the Empire. Dániel mentioned from the trip he took more than 70 localities that we succeeded to identify almost completely, recording them in a footnote.
