AGING-RELATED CHANGES IN BONES AND JOINTS

Summary/Abstract: The structure and the processes of bones and joints are described. With aging set in number important changes in the bones and joints. These changes occur i cells, intercellular substance include organic and inorganic components. The mentioned changes are due to the other factors like hormonal level (sex hormones, growth hor-mone, parathyroid hormone), vitamin D and others. The processes like osteoporosis and formation of osteophytes are connected with aging. These processes have the same influence upon joints – intervertebral discs and synovial joints, as examples are given knee joint and hip joint. The possibilities for prevention and treatments were de-scribed.
