Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses three textual versions of the Song of Songs in medieval Slavonic manuscript tradition placing the emphasis on the 15th-century translation of the catena with the commentaries of Theodoret of Cyrrhus, the three fathers (Gregory of Nyssa, Nilus of Ancyra, and Maximus the Confessor), and Michael Psellus. The version of the Song of Songs in this catena is compared with the earliest translation of this biblical book and its version in the early translation of another catena containing commentaries of Philo of Carpasia, Gregory of Nyssa, Hippolytus of Rome, and some others. Examples which show the influence of the commentaries on the choice by the translators of certain lexemes are discussed. The version of the Song of Songs in the late translation of the catena differs from the two earlier versions and cannot be called a redaction; rather it is a secondary translation.
