Problems and Tasks in the Studies on the Cyrillo-Methodian Hymnographic Heritage

Summary/Abstract: The paper has mapped out problems and tasks in connection with three main directions for studying the Cyrillo-Methodian hymnographic heritage: 1. Further work on finding, investigating and publishing the original (untranslated) Old Bulgarian hymnographic works in available MSS; 2. preparing separate comparative studies on and editions of the translated hymnographic works - separate canons, stichera, kontakia, etc.; 3. preparing diplomatics-type editions of separate manuscript books that represent various specialized hymnographic collections. The Old Bulgarian hymnographic texts with acrostics should take a place of priority in the studies, because of their exceptional documentary value as first-rate source material.
