Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the issues of the restoration of the Kievan Caves Monastery disciplinary charter in the early period of its history. It is known that Theodosius of the Caves adopted the Stoudios Typicon in his monastery. However, the Kievan Caves Monastery’s manuscript copies of this charter are unknown. And we hardly know anything about the charter-creating activities in this monastery. The article discusses attempts, both by medieval authors and researchers of the New Age, to interpret some texts as the result of the charter-creating work of the Kievan Caves Monastery monks. One such case concerns the Augmented Psalter (Russian State Library, fund 98 (Egorov’s collection), No 201) of 1796,in which the Charter of the Holy Mountain by the Nizhny Novgorod Caves Monastery Archimandrite Dositheus was attributed to Theodosius of the Caves. Another case relates to a manuscript miscellany (Russian State Library, fund 98(Egorov’s collection), No 926) of the late XV century, including “The Edification of Simeon the Bishop to a Certain Monk of the Caves Monastery”. This text is an edited initial fragment of the “Epistle from Simon to Polycarp” of the Kievan Caves Patericon. The article describes the transformation of this Epistle into a charter text under the influence of works of charter nature.
