Summary/Abstract: This paper analyses the Old French verbs of deviner and adeviner, taking into consideration a corpus consisting of numerous editions with respective glossaries and linguistic notes. With regard to this, the paper aims at overcoming certain limitations of basic dictionaries: in some cases, conventional meanings proposed by them do not serve the purpose of adequate translation.
