Summary/Abstract: This paper deals with two interesting figures from the history of Bosniaks: Torlak Evli-dede, erudite imam and educator and Djerzelez Alija, a famous hero celebrated in numerous Bosniak epic poems. On the basis of the published material, sources and national tradition, the author introduces us to the biographies of these persons, paying attention to their contribution of spreading and preservation of Islam in our area, which was decisively influenced to decision to build Turbe (domed burial sites) above their graves, that in time, became cult places of Muslims in Šipovo and surroundings. Unfortunately, these two domed burial sites were destroyed at the beginning of the Second World War and during the aggression on Bosnia and Herzegovina and have not been restored up to the present. Therefore, bearing in mind the importance that Torlak Evli-dede and Djerzelez Alija had for Bosniaks collective identity, the author concludes the paper with a recommendation to restore their domed burial sites as soon as possible and thus to save the memories of the first period of spreading Islam in our country
