Summary/Abstract: The article considers the identity of the embodiment of female portraits in the poems of E. Boratynsky. Similarly to the founders of Russian romanticism V. Zhukovsky and K. Batyushkov, Boratynsky portrays women primarily in love relations with men, but, in contrast to his predecessors, he shows them from different angles. Lack of awareness, unpredictability and beauty are the main gender differences between women and men in Boratynsky´s poetic world. The paper analyzed five main types of women identified in Boratynsky´s poetry.
