Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with proper names in Polish phraseology and proverbiology. Proper names are analysed based on their connotative meaning as well as physical, intellectual, social, temperamental and other characteristics of the person denoted by the specific proper name. The study is conducted on the basis of phraseological and proverbiological evidence, taking into account the gender aspects of the analysed issue.
