Summary/Abstract: The article presents unknown Russian redaction of Turnovo prolog vita of St John of Rila which only copy is found in a 16th-century Simple Prolog for September-November (Sankt Petersburg, Russian National Library, f. 536, ОЛДП F.493). The author analyses its linguistics, literary, and historical features. The work's appearance in the Russian milieu is explained as closely related with the so-called Third Russian redaction of the Prolog and the vita's usage by the Russian antiheretical movements in the late 15th – early 16th century. It is also stated that the new redaction was used as a source in compiling the hagiographic corpus for the not yet canonised local saints and for the "new wonderworkers" proclaimed during the 1547 and the 1549 Church councils. The copy in ОЛДП F.493 is a part of the new redactions of Turnovo prolog vita in the 15th–17th century Russian tradition.
