Analysis of Financial Condition of Common Pension Companies in Poland

Summary/Abstract: Starting from 1999 Common Pension Companies (CPC) are operating in Poland. Their main purpose is to support mandatory pension capital pillar, through managing entrusted to them by future pensioners’ funds in the form of contributions paid from their salaries. In the second pillar operating Open Pension Funds that are managed are supervised by CPC. They are commercial entities, which are oriented in gaining profits. The main purpose of submitted article is to present the genesis and evolution of the current pension system in Poland, the tasks given to CPC, the characteristics of the quantitative methods used in the evaluation of their financial situation and the strategies of financing and finally carrying out an analysis of the profitability level and the degree of CPC market debt in the years 2010–2014. The research hypothesis has been formulated, according to which, as a result of decreasing the amount of CPC revenue the level of profitability is decreasing regularly, and in terms of financing strategies, all CPC apply conservative strategy.
