Summary/Abstract: The aim of the study was to analyze selected determinants of innovative activity of enterprises in the market of products of animal origin (ie. the meat industry and dairy), with particular emphasis on innovation expenditures and their impact on revenue growth. It showed low level of capital to support innovation in these enterprises. Most often financed purchase of fixed assets (ie. new machinery and technical equipment, means of transport, tools, instruments, movables and equipment), as well as the purchase of software, staff training and marketing activities supporting sales of new products. The least effort directed to the purchase of external knowledge and research - development. Most often they financed innovation in large companies and dealing with milk. In addition, these companies employed the highest proportion of staff with higher education, which correlates with a greater interest in the innovative activity of these companies. The least active in this area were meat processing company with poultry, as well as medium-sized entities. The surveyed companies finance their innovation activities mainly from its own resources. Other sources of investment were of minor importance.
