Summary/Abstract: Currently innovations are considered to be the main factor in the development of any organization. Innovation as the ability to continuously seek, implement and disseminate new solutions is not only a prerequisite for gaining a competitive advantage, but also to maintain the current position in the market. Model approach to innovation takes into account the interactions between the components of this process. Particular importance is assigned to the resources of the organization. Due to the nature of the health services sector, research attention has been focused on hospitals. The examination whether there is a relationship between the perception of resources that are key to the hospital among its staff, and the approach of the respondent to innovation. Material consisted of 493 questionnaires that have been filled by employees of 7 hospitals, operating in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. Diagnostic survey has been the research method. In the case of human resources (p = 0,009) and capital (p = 0,002), the results confirmed that there is a link between organization’s key resources recognized by the subject and its relationship to innovation. As essential for the functioning of hospitals respondents have considered human resources (4,3 - average rating of all respondents in the five-point scale). In view of the importance of human resources in the smooth functioning of any health care system and their role in the innovation process, decision-makers and managers in the health services sector should be concentrated on securing their optimum. Both in terms of quantity and quality.
