The Significance of the S14 Expressway for Selected Areas of the Łódź Urban Area from the Logistic Perspective

Summary/Abstract: The article presents the history of the construction of the S14 expresswayand the current progress of work on its missing sections. It also discusses the tools and methods applied to collect the necessary data and prepare traffic forecasts. The aim of the article is to analyse the impact of the construction of the S14 expressway on the traffic volume in areas neighbouring the selected interchanges of this expressway based onthe available forecasts, the capacity of the network of existing and planned local roads,and the standard of living of the population in the analysed area. The article makes use of available traffic forecasts. Based on the analysis carried out, a number of conclusions have been drawn with regard to the consequences of the construction or failure to construct the missing sections of the S14 expressway.
