Summary/Abstract: The present article analyzes the problems related to the relations established between the population of Bessarabia and the units of the Russian army in the first years of occupation (1812 - 1828). From the outset these relations became quite tense, the Russian military appearing arrogant and contemptuous of the locals. There were no rare cases when they committed wrongdoing and acts incompatible with the status of the military, facts disguised by the authorities. Based on the new documents, the author demonstrates the concrete cases of abuses and wrongdoings committed by the Russian military, as well as the forms of protest of the native population regarding such cases.
