Summary/Abstract: In the present study cooperation among scholars from different theoretical backgrounds proves to be a means to provide new views on areas of philological research. Thus, a review of historical pragmatics is presented, focusing on its development and how it overcomes handicaps when dealing with remote periods of language. Taking drama into consideration, as one of the most adequate genres for this discipline, cooperation between textual criticism and historical linguistics enables the use of highly reliable corpora in historical pragmatics. The analyses of the pragmatic markers hola and adiós in Calderón de la Barca’s plays demonstrates the results of this interdisciplinary cooperation.
