Summary/Abstract: Slobodan Milošević gained political power through a conflict that took place within the Serbian Communist Party. He very quickly became the most popular Serbian politician and at the end of the ninth decade of the 20 th century became the national leader. The most important difference between Milošević and his predecessors was his personal readiness to confront problems. He did not have any prejudice against anyone and was able to get into conflict with everyone, which he did very often, always going too far and not having a tactic. That is how Milošević, in a very short period of time, left behind all members of the old political generation, and they were all either defeated rivals or survivors that were politically disregarded individuals.
