Summary/Abstract: One of the key characteristics identifying Generation Y is the tension between cultural homogeneity and cultural heterogeneity. Direct access to the information from all over the world becomes the cause of the occurrence of complex processes of interpretation, translation, mutation and adaptation of the global content to the local one. Generation Y are shaping their ideas on professional career in this very context. This article aims to answer the question to what extent the picture of a career of the representatives of Gen Y is unified and global, and in particular how they assess their chances of achieving career success. The theoretical basis of the research is the concept of C.R. Snyder where hope is understood as belief in the possession of competences enabling success achievement. It is a cognitive approach, treating hope as a cognitive motivational process units related to the belief of an individual that he or she will succeed and that success will be the consequence of their own competence. The article presents the results of own research conducted among students of Management Department from Poland, Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Austria and Russia in 2012-2014.
