A description is given of the relevant space in Buddhist iconography, of the objects situated in each of these divisions and their conceptual and symbolic meaning. Further an attempt is made to reconstruct more ancient cosmological conceptions upon which the described specimens of Buddhist iconography) based. In conclusion some facts are given (linguistic ones among them) concerning the semiotics of cosmological conceptions of the ancient Indo-European peoples which are reflected in language, literature, art, architecture, etc.
