Summary/Abstract: The present paper deals with the problem of myth in the "Rigveda". As it was observed by many scholars, one of the essential features of Vedic mythology as reflected in the hymns, of the "Rigveda" is its syncretic character. From this fact it ensues that the major part of the Vedic deities are mutually substitutable when addressing them. As the name of a deity (as well as his invocation) may be considered as a unit of the mythological system (code), the respective substitution of the names of the deities in the mythological messages may also be considered as the, cadence of the mythological text of the "Rigveda" which is due to the regular occurrence of the same, signs of the mythological system as realized however in different linguistic and mythical shapes. The first conclusion is that as these signs as to their mythical content encode successively one another, the prominent feature of the "Rigveda" is the parallelism of its discrete parts which may be compared with the parallelism in poetry and in some specimens of folklore texts. The second important conclusion is that a kind of achronic myth, different from the myths where the temporal dimension is observed, is formed in this way.
