Family environment and the process of demoralization in underage female murder perpetrators

Summary/Abstract: A young person’s environment is focused on their family, school and age group. This environment plays an important role in the process of socialization. Usually, pathological behaviour and underage crime can be traced back to the detrimental influence of one or all of the above groups. Among them, the family is considered the foremost. The aim of the present paper is an attempt to present a characteristics of the family environments of underage female murder perpetrators in the context of their destructive and demoralizing influence on the girls’ behaviour. The study was performed using the method of case studies and the technique of document analysis, and was based on the court files pertaining to underage girls who had committed the crime typified in Article 148 § 1 of the Criminal Code. The paper presents the methodology and the results of the author’s own research and draws the theoretical approaches to the analysed subject.
