Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is to determine the specifics and innovations of the «Corporeal Mime» technique of E. Decroux as the basis of the modern art of pantomime. The methodology of the research is based on the principles of objectivity, multifactor, historicism, complexity, and systemic, and to achieve the goal, such methods of scientific knowledge as concrete-historical, descriptive, logical-analytical and problem-chronological, statistical. Scientific novelty. Cultural research of E. Decroux’s activity was carried out; analyzed the ideological, philosophical and scientific aspects of the technique «Corporeal Mime», as well as the concept of «mim» and «pantomime». The principles of J.Copo's theatrical school «L’Ecole du Vieux-Colombier», which contributed to the formation of the E. Decroux method, were considered; is defined by the poetry of the physical expression of E. Decroux as the basis of the contemporary art of pantomime. Conclusions. The activities of E. Decroux made a tremendous contribution to the emergence of modern pantomime as an independent art form, contributed to the rethinking of the art of pantomime in the contemporary context, positioning it not so much as the art of motion, but the art of posture, which is determined by harmony and achieved through the trunk and ends, thoughts and forms. According to his theory of poetry of physical expression, the extreme value, in comparison with gestures and movements, has poses that E. Decroux defines as a sequence of actions. Currently, the methodology of E. Decroux is widely used in many countries around the world in the process of actor training in higher artistic, educational institutions, and his school, with a specific artistic form, repertoire, and technique of bodily mime, is recognized as classical, becoming the basis for the further evolution of the art of pantomime.
