Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is to study the representation of libraries in the modern virtual space, which is formed to meet the information needs of users, as well as a characteristic feature of the transformation of the existing library service system and the matching of libraries to new social needs. The methodology consists in the application of general scientific methods: analysis, synthesis, and generalization of the source information. This methodological approach allows us to reveal and generalize the main provisions regarding the presence of library institutions on the Internet.
