Transition from age-specific fertility coefficients to age-specific childbirth probabilities

Summary/Abstract: An analytical method of transition from age-specific fertility coefficients to age-specific childbirth probabilities is submitted by analogy with the method of transition from age-specific mortality coefficients to age-specific probabilities of dying described by Chiang and Preston. The method is compared with a similar one using survival probabilities from a life table fairly close to the period of fertility observation. A demonstration of childbirth probabilities derived by both methods is made on data for the years 2000-2001.
