Summary/Abstract: In the paper the author analyzes the basic facts regarding the status and development of the sociology as both obligatory subject and one of the humanities within the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Belgrade from the middle of 1950s when sociology started to be learnt, until nowadays. The author underlines the importance of sociology, in fact, the importance of sociology of medicine or medical sociology, as the discipline which was the cradle of bioethics within the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Belgrade.
