Summary/Abstract: This text focuses on the main characteristics of political participation and representation of women in the context of post-socialist Europe. Social and political context defines the model of political behavior of women. It defines the structural and functional limitations that women faced in the individual and collective action. The political preconditions for greater involvement of women in the parliamentary democracy and the promotion of women's activism at the local, regional and national level are analyzed. In particular, the characteristics of the political participation of women in Serbia and the possibility of substantial representation in the legislative, executive and judicial authorities are discussed.
