Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this publication is to present ways of book circulation as well approach of its owners and users to the methods of handling with old prints. It features effects of historical events (like World War II) on books storage, use and condition. First, methods of old prints acquisition are analyzed, based on special collection of UKSW Main Library. The techniques of book preservation and theft protection (with the use of specific binding) are also presented. Presenting example one of the Franciscan monastery, preservation and maintenance of old prints collection in religious orders is being analyzed. The paper gives overview on list of Polish libraries damaged during World War II. Methods of replevin and acquiring of old prints in the post-war period are finally presented.
