Summary/Abstract: Vladimír Petrík, together with Kornel Földvári, was a pioneer of Slovak „detectivestudies“. This study deals with Slovak detective novels from the 1960s, which Petríkreflected on. It shows attempts to establish an original Slovak detective story andidentifies its basic problems. In particular, they are not very well-managed genres,textual misconducts, specializing in the story of historical problems and historicalevents (Slovak National Uprising, emigration). The study points to the important formin which many detective novels have been published. It follows the interwar productionin Czechoslovakia, which was unique in the 1960s.
