Self-Identification of the Wallachians and Degree of Integration in Society

Summary/Abstract: Based on field research and inquiries taken from the Wallachian population in the regions of Vidin and Oryahovo in 1993 and 1994, the information is an answer to some biased and untrue allegations, carried by the „Timpul" (Vreme) newspaper, organ of the Association of Wallachians in Bulgaria. The newspaper publishes materials referring to an alleged „genocide" of the Wallachian population in Bulgaria, somewhich which far from corresponding to the actual facts is moreover a crass falsification.
