INDIVIDUAL CREATIVITY IN FOLKTALES TELLING: THE CASE OF EFIMIA GRIGORYEVNA PADKINA

Summary/Abstract: The article treats the combination of the fairytale canon and individual creativity in the tales of one storyteller of the late XX — early XXI century, Efimia Padkina. Her recorded material testifies her splendid knowledge of fabulous tradition, free treatment of the fabulous texts, the combination of fairytale canon with the improvisation. She preserves typical fairytale formulas and vastly presents fairytale rituality. She adds many details of the present time: her texts are distinguished by their interest in the psychology of the characters, attention to the motives of their actions. She has her own individual style and a great artistic taste. Her fairy tales are the result of the individual creativity of storyteller, her peculiar reflection on traditional subjects and images, attempts to reflect in the fairy tale one’s own experiences and problems.
