INVESTMENTS OF THE INSURANCE COMPANIES IN BULGARIAN MORTGAGE BONDS – CHALLENGES AND RISKS

Summary/Abstract: Central for the European directive on the protection of consumers of insurance products is the management of investment risk and the solvency of insurance companies, in order to have financial sustainability and the ability to cope with unforeseen shocks on the insurance market as well as the challenges and risks of investing in various financial assets such as Bulgarian mortgage bonds. The current new regulatory framework for the European insurance market highlights the control over the structure of investment and investment areas of insurance companies using the external and internal audit mechanisms as a priority for the Bulgarian financial supervision.
