Summary/Abstract: The paper is dedicated to the 135th anniversary and the 95th year of the tragic death of Vassil Kanchov and discussed his enormous research work. Though on a broader scale, the author traces out his short life emphasizing the historical conditions and the factors which influenced his character, interests and the scope of his activity.
