Summary/Abstract: Violence emerges as a problem that frequently manifests itself in the social structure as a societal illness of the modern age and has many damages. Although violence in all kinds and all forms is destructive, the type against the woman also poses many problems both for the individual and the society. Violence is both a social problem and a source of many social problems. For this reason, prevention of violence against women is a requirement both on micro and macro scales. Violence against women has many dimensions and types. Physical, verbal, sexual, economic and psychological damages are the ones that come to mind first. These types of violence threaten not only women’s physical and psychological well-being, but their lives as well. In this study, interviews were conducted with 63 violent victims who applied to Ankara ŞÖNİM and various dimensions of violence against women were assessed from a sociological point of view.
