Summary/Abstract: After the World War II, liberalism, which once dominated the international system, was shattered and replaced by realism. Realism has examined the basic concepts in international relations, such as power and balance of power from a realist approach which brought about a multi-dimensional perspective to these concepts. From the realist point of view, the main actors of the international system are the states that are trying to increase their power in anarchic order. When a state increases its power and threatens the system, other states would form an alliance in order to form the balance of power.
