Summary/Abstract: Lachenmann gets inspired by sound’s electronic and acoustic decomposition. How Lachenmann succeeds to discover “forms of listening” “between the sounds” is related to the vision of “super-instrument metaphor”. Form is treated as a “super-sequence” presenting the entire string “instrument-apparatus”. This text comments on the concepts of “fleshiness” and “imaginary instrument”, both connected to the musical syntax in the Second String Quartet “Reigen seliger Geister”. Syntax’s innovative forms and language development in Lachenmann’s opuses, a creation of the end of the 20th century, are among the main discoveries in composition renewal and sound forms’ development in post-modern composition.
