Summary/Abstract: The task we have set ourselves here is to discuss the worship of the Muslim saint Bali Efendi, a practice that has lasted for nearly four and a half centuries among a portion of the Turkish, Bulgarian and Gypsy population in Bulgaria. In order to have a thorough understanding of this subject, we must first have a look at the saint's life and activities, as well as the history of his tomb {türbe), which still exists today, located in the courtyard of the Church of the Holy Prophet Elijah in Knjazevo.
