Summary/Abstract: “Epitome historiarum ab Orbe condito, ad nostra usque tempora” contains nine episodes revealing essential moments of the medieval history of the Bulgarians (680–1396). This short history of the world (1598) is the most common essay in Catholic Europe in the 17th and the first half of the 18th century, containing information about Bulgarian history. The article examines the stories about the Bulgarians. Their sources are indicated. A review is made of the Latin printed editions and of the translations in Italian and French. Corrections, additions and the comment in the new editions are analyzed. Orazio Torsellini’s “Epitome historiarum” is a mandatory reference book in History in Jesuit colleges. It contributes significantly for the dissemination of information about Bulgarians in student circles in the Early modern period.
