Summary/Abstract: The author describes the basic features of the post-war position of Yugoslavia, its relations with the superpowers, the international renown that it has gained by participating in the creation of the policy of non¬-alignment. He then defines the main outlines of the relationships and processes at the time when the first studies of international affairs start to appear in Yugoslavia. The main features of the development of the study of international affairs in Yugoslavia in the 1960s are a lack of tradition, attempts to fix the boundaries of the new discipline against existing and related disciplines, then a positive approach to Yugoslav foreign policy, especially towards non-alignment, and a certain discordance between theory and practice.
