Summary/Abstract: In 2010, the extreme right phenomenon reminded us of its existence through a series of stunning successes in different EU member states. The present paper searches for the reasons for the intensification of its activities, examines its profile and tries to predict its role in the future. Firstly, an extreme right pattern is drawn, and the parties active in 2010 are analysed against it, on the basis of a set of common features. Then, external factors that have furthered the extreme right performances are observed. And finally, the paper focuses on the relation between right-wing extremism and nationalism, and their impact on the future political scenarios.
