Summary/Abstract: The paper examines an alternative question as a special type of an interrogative sentence. The alternative question is considered as an integral syntactic unit with a number of specific features. The main goal is to determine the place of the alternative question in the syntactic system of the French language, and also to analyze various structural and semantic models of this syntactic unit.
