Summary/Abstract: Economic growth is an increase in the production capacity of the economy related to the size of the production of goods and services. While economic growth is measured by quantitative changes, economic development is characterized by changes in qualities. Withinin recent years, the so-called unofficial economy. Account systemsince 2010, in the European Union Member States, the production and services provided have been taken into account through the „gray zone”. The studies also take into account employment in the shadow economy and try determine the determinants of this economic phenomenon. The article discusses the difference in approach for economic growth and socio-economic development with particular emphasis on the role the shadow economy and employment in the unofficial economy.
