Summary/Abstract: This text aims to discuss from a contrastive and intercultural perspective some of the most frequent pragmatic inadequacies in the interactions between Spaniards and Brazilians, observing how they produce misunderstandings in communication, because their effects of meaning are not those expected by the issuer, nor by the receiver. For this, we will review some concepts that we consider basic in the teaching of foreign languages in relation to the influence of culture in the language and the pragmatic uses of each language. The corpus of this research comes from the observation of the main pragmatic interferences between Spaniards and Brazilians. As a sample of our study, we will analyze a pragmatic interference, among others, for four interviews of Brazilian soccer players residing in Spain.
