Summary/Abstract: The present article discusses the Christian values which are presented in the Bulgarians medieval lives of St. Ioan Rilski. This work is focused on the National vita, Prologue lives of the Saint and those written by Patriarch Euthymius and Dimitar Kantakouzenos. Some of the virtues are pointed out directly, others are implied by actions taken or shown per the negation of their opposites. Many of them remain unchanged over the centuries, but depending on the time and volume of work, the emphasis is on one or the other virtue. The writing, reading and listening to these hagiographical writings works had direct impact of moral development and values in Bulgarian society. Therefore, the study is an attempt to look into the spiritual world of the Bulgarians and their perceptions of good and evil. Of course, they are formed under the direct influence of the Christian religion.
