Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to bring closer the notion of the shooting jargon, ie to discuss the orgin of this sociolect, its particular elements- more specifically nouns that are neosemantizms, and neologisms, and environmental expressions used on daily basis by competitors, coaches, and arbiters. The characteristic feature of jargon is its shortness, which is the cause of numerous offences against nationwide norm. The analyzed material includes 34 entries, which can be found in contemporary dictionaries of Polish. The reference in the sources in many cases differs from the one used by the shooters. The analyzed terms were divided according to the criterion of the relation between the specialized lexemes (in this case shooting) with Polish in general.
