Summary/Abstract: The article observes tragic masks used in Ancient Greek theatre in the Classical period. On the basis of vase paintings and ancient literary sources, mainly the Onomastikon of Julius Pollux, the author tries to reconstruct the appearance of masks, their types and the peculiarity of their usage on the stage.
