Summary/Abstract: The study presents the problem of reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in Germany in the second decade of the 21st century. To achieve the objectives of climate protection, energy supply and energy use play a key role. Therefore, ensuring energy security is conducted taking into account the need to reduce the burden on the natural environment, especially reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The article discusses the beginnings and evolution of climate protection policy in Germany, taking into account the main objectives and areas of application, as well as existing and planned activities to achieve the objectives of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 2020 and 2050. Moreover, the greenhouse gas emissions statistics are presented in sectors that illustrate the level of advancement in achieving the reduction targets.
